The newly reactivated Nychair X 80 saw the light of day in 1980, ten years after the original Nychair X model was had been developed.

It was designed in response to changing needs: People were moving from rooms with low seating in tatami lined rooms to a more western lifestyle where chairs were available.

While maintaining the chair's enveloping comfort, the seat is positioned higher than the original Nychair X, and the backrest can be folded down to make the chair easier to store and transport.
